Kemnal Road, Chislehurst

Kemnal (note, not Manor!) shown in 1870 in splendid isolation within
its 132 acre estate. A footpath southwards from Kemnal to Woodheath
Cottage and beyond can be seen, as can Belmont Lane, but the main
exit from Kemnal is northwards to the Maidstone Road.
Kemnal Road 1870
The footpath leading from Ashfield Lane to Kemnal can clearly be seen in this map. It crosses another  footpath near Woodheath Cottage, the only residence featuring on the footpath. Woodheath is the name given not unnaturally, to this area of heath and woodland on which Kemnal Road and its houses were later built. The two open areas – meadows? – to the south are the sites on which Woodlands and Meadowcroft will shortly be built.
